This matters directly for how group environments — open offices, brainstorming sessions, consensus-driven meetings — actually function: environments explicitly designed to encourage constant group interaction can, alongside their benefits, also be quietly suppressing independent judgment in ways that feel like normal social behavior but are actually closer to perception being overridden by social pressure.
